Captain America getting new costume, Chris Evans confirms

Hollywoodnews.com: Don’t get too used to the costume Chris Evans will sport in July’s “Captain America” origin story. It turns out by the time the character returns in next summer’s “The Avengers,” he’ll be sporting something completely different.

May we suggest something a little more modern?

Evans spoke to MTV News and told them that he recently tried on the new suit now that the “Avengers” production has commenced in New Mexico.

“It’s really cool. I was worried because I started to get really attached to the old one. I got to really start digging it. It’s not that easy to move in, but I started really liking it,” Evans said.

It makes sense, This summer’s “Captain America” is set in the 1940s, so a period-worthy suit fits. But “Avengers” director Joss Whedon will update the franchise to present day – I believe – and so Evans will need a new look.

“Captain America: The First Avenger” will be in theaters on July 22.

“The Avengers,” meanwhile, arrives on May 4, 2012.
