IFC Films posts crowd-pleasing “Buck” trailer

By Sean O’Connell Cindy Meehl’s documentary “Buck,” about legendary horse whisperer Buck Brannaman, has a tendency to charm audiences at every film festival it plays.

So far this year, Meehl’s crowd-pleasing feature has earned Audience Awards at Sundance and the Full Frame Documentary Film Fest. As it prepares to roll out, IFC Films has posted the first full trailer to We’re also posting it below.

It sounds like a one-trick pony, but “Buck” – which follows Brannaman as he tours the country instructing cowboys how to connect with their troubled horses – has so many layers hiding beneath what appears to be a simple premise. The selling point is Brannaman himself, who one time mentored Robert Redford on the set of his drama “The Horse Whisperer” and figures out a way to turn lucrative horse classes into a provocative study of the human spirit.

“Buck” begins to screen in theaters on June 17. In the meantime, enjoy the trailer, and be sure to see the film when it finally opens.
