Johnny Depp brings “Pirates” to Oprah

By Sean O’Connell As Oprah Winfrey prepares to say farewell to her TV crowd, the talk show host and all-around media mogul took her studio audience on one last high-seas adventure with a very special guest in tow.

Johnny Depp surprised the members of Winfrey’s Chicago-based studio audience with an advanced screening of his latest picture, “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.”

Disney tells us this was part of the “Harpo Hook-Up,” giving Oprah’s fans a chance to say they were the first moviegoers in the world to view this fourth “Pirates” (though it already has screened for press in certain markets). Depp was on hand at the movie theater to greet and welcome the “Oprah” show’s excited fans to the unprecedented event.

Depp’s next stop will be the Cannes Film Festival, where “Pirates” will screen. The anticipated sequel, directed by Rob Marshall, lands in theaters on May 20.
