Jack Black boards “Bailout” comedy from Cannes

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: The comedy stylings of Jack Black and Michael Winterbottom don’t appear to gel. But then again, comedy (like politics) leads to strange bedfellows, so maybe a collaboration between the two will be something inspired.

While in Cannes to help promote “Kung Fu Panda 2,” Black revealed that he’ll star in WInterbottom’s “Bailout,” the story of a man trying his best to come back from financial devastation. THR notes that the comedy, which will begin filming in August, is based on Jess Walter’s novel, “The Financial Lives of The Poets.”

Winterbottom told the trade that Walter’s script manages the “rare feat of being funny and true at the same time.”

In the meantime, Black returns to “Panda” to voice warrior bear Po in the anticipated sequel. It will be in theaters on May 27.
