Steven Spielberg’s “Tintin” gets gorgeous new trailer, poster

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: “The Adventures of Tintin” is an anticipated film that I just can’t figure out yet.

The names atop the poster are Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson … a big step in the right direction. And the credited writers include Steven Moffat, Joe Cornish and Edgar Wright. Three more steps in an excellent direction.

But U.S. audiences aren’t as familiar with the Tintin character (he’s huge overseas), so we’re relying on posters and teaser clips to give us an idea of where the movie’s heading. New posters have been plastered around Cannes and released to the Web. And now we also get a look at a trailer. It’s posted below.

Spielberg will direct this first “Tintin” installment, which reportedly is part of a planned trilogy. The story stars Jamie Bell as the lead character, the hero of a Belgian comic strip who worked as a reporter an embarks on several treasure-seeking adventures. The initial installment was subtitled “The Secret of the Unicorn,” though that might have faded away as of late.

Names won’t matter much now that fans have a look at the gorgeous visuals. The style of “Tintin” was what has kept me on the fence, but this blend of computer animation and 3D looks spectacular.

“The Adventures of Tintin” will be in theaters on Dec. 23. Here’s the trailer:
