Armie Hammer joins Johnny Depp for “Lone Ranger”

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: It’s official: Armie Hammer is moving from “The Social Network” to the saddle.

The actor is all set to join Johnny Depp in Gore Verbinski’s upcoming production of “The Lone Ranger.” Hammer will play the title role, while Depp will play Tonto, Variety reports. George Clooney and Ryan Gosling once were circling the role, but Hammer’s now on board and he production can get underway this fall.

It’s latest in a line of projects Hammer has lined up in the post “Social” world. He’s also set to appear in Clint Eastwood’s J. Edgar Hoover biopic with Leonardo DiCaprio, and will be seen in Tarsem Singh’s “Snow White” … the version that doesn’t have Krusten Stewart in the lead.
