“Hangover” headed toward record Thursday

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: This will be an ongoing story throughout the holiday weekend, but Warner’s massive comedy sequel “The Hangover Part II” continued to perform well in its opening frame and may come close to posting a $30 million Thursday.

If that number is reached, “Hangover” will have “one of the highest Thursday grosses of all time,” according to THR.

This on top of the $10.4 million Todd Phillips’ sequel earned in midnight screenings heading from Wednesday night into Thursday. And the weekend’s just getting warmed up.

As for its nearest competition, Paramount and DreamWorks Animation’s “Kung Fu Panda 2”grabbed close to $6 million in its first day, a “solid start” according to the trade magazine.
