Lee DeWyze responds to “American Idol” dust up
By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: A “he said-he said” argument pertaining to the “American Idol” finale appears to be heating up.
For those unaware of the feud, former “Idol” winner Lee DeWyze was called out by executive producer Nigel Lythgoe for allegedly refusing to participate in the show. Taking to Twitter, Lythgoe wrote, “I was so upset Lee DeWyze wouldn’t present the winners trophy to Scotty. Especially as he’d been on the show this season. I guess he was shy.”
DeWyze says he had a good reason not to be there: No one bothered to ask him!
“I was not asked to be involved in the finale,” the singer tweeted. “It wasn’t until about two minutes before they announced that Nigel had approached me and asked if he could ‘borrow’ me for a second. I didn’t feel a last-second jump on stage was appropriate. It was Scotty’s moment.”
Meow, kittens. Leave the drama for the actual stage, OK?
DeWyze continued, “I appreciate American Idol and the opportunity it has given me. And the people who have made that show possible. I am not angry or bitter etc. It was an amazing finale, and I would have loved to be a part of it. I just wasn’t asked.”
