Orlando Bloom confirmed for Peter Jackson’s “Hobbit”

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Big news from the set of Peter Jackson’s “The Hobbit.” Orlando Bloom has, in fact, joined the cast and will reprise his role of Legolas.

“10 years on, I’m thrilled to be working with Orlando again. I look older – he doesn’t! Orlando created an iconic character with his portrayal of Legolas, and we’re excited to be revisiting Middle Earth with him once more,” Jackson posted on Facebook.

Can someone who has a more intimate knowledge of Tolkien’s work tell me if Legolas actually is IN “The Hobbit,” or is this just a way to bridge the movies for casual “LOTR” fans who’ll want to see a familiar face?

Jackson continues to labor on his two-part “Hobbit” adaptation, which begins hitting theaters December 2012.
