Robert Pattinson’s new “Cosmopolis” look

By Kim Palacios

hollywoodnews.com: Fans who prefer a clean-shaven, elegantly dressed Robert Pattinson were in for a treat this week when unofficial photos from the set of “Cosmopolis” found their way into the public view. David Cronenberg’s film adaptation of the Don DeLillo novel finds Pattinson playing Eric Parker, a billionaire financier who suffers a barrage of misfortunes through the course of a single day-long limousine ride. It was the director’s daughter, Caitlin Cronenberg, who tweeted the quickly circulating photo of Robert Pattinson and Sarah Gadon.

Pattinson’s look in the film is distinct from anything we’ve seen in his previous screen performances. Eric Parker is all custom suits, slicked back hair, and the fine accessories to match. Young, wealthy, and at the top of his game, DeLillo’s Parker acts the part of the consummate professional. Indeed, Parker’s appearance becomes a symbol in DeLillo’s tale.

From the beginning, the contrast between Parker’s inner turmoil and his impeccable appearance are clear. As the book’s single day marches on, Parker’s varying states of dress (or undress) are deliberately noted, and his destination (his own barber, from whom he wishes to get a hair cut) is also far from insignificant.
