hollywoodnews.com: Peter Jackson’s adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s “Hobbit” prequels to “The Lord of the Rings” series finally have names. Gossip Cop broke the news, rating the rumor a 10 on the “real vs. rumor” scale (the highest possible score). Reportedly, “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” will open on December 14, 2012 and “The Hobbit: There and Back Again” will open on December 13, 2013.
The plot features young hobbit Bilbo Baggins traveling to Lonely Mountain accompanied by a group of dwarves to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor, which had been taken from them by the dragon, Smaug.
