Cheryl Cole, Simon Cowell in “X Factor” chess match

Hollywoodnews.com: First Cheryl Cole was dismissed from the judge’s panel of the American version of “The X Factor.” Now producers are doing what they can to block Cole from being financially compensated for her work.

Sources close to Cole have said that Fremantle, which produces the program, is “trying to avoid breaching her contract” so they’re requiring her to apply for a visa to work in the States, THR reports.

“They don’t want to pay her,” the source says. “It’s a chess match.”

The chess analogy also was applied to Simon Cowell, who Cole has said believes he can move people around like chess pieces. All of this behind-the-scenes drama better lead to a compelling on-screen product. “The X Factor” bows in the fall.
