Lindsay Lohan ankle device replaced after “malfunction”

By Sean O’Connell Did Lindsay Lohan try to make a run for it during her court-ordered house arrest?

That’s what representatives from her monitoring system want to know, which is why they’ve reportedly replaced her ankle-monitoring device to see if the equipment is faulty.

Lohan is serving close to 35 days of house arrest following her jewelry store theft in January. But Lohan’s device went off on Monday, according to the L.A. Times, promoting officials to swing by her house. They found the starlet at home, the paper reports.

“Lindsay’s electronic monitoring system went off on Monday. When a representative from the monitoring company went to her home, the representative found Lindsay there. The equipment was replaced the following day,” attorney Shawn Chapman Holley said in a statement.

My guess is that Lohan was testing her boundaries. Maybe she left her house long enough to trigger the device, but made it home before officials found her. Because the alternate explanation is that Lindsay follows the rules and the device just malfunctioned … and we all know that’s pretty unlikely.
