Spielberg talks “Jaws” Blu-ray in new interview

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: If you are a fan of Steven Spielberg, “Jaws” or both, this extensive interview is a must-read this morning.

Rabid “Jaws” fan “Quint” over at AICN scored a nearly-hour-long conversation with the Oscar-winning director in regards to the upcoming “Jaws” anniversary. And while the conversation gets in-depth about “Jaws,” it also touches on other Spielberg films as well as J.J. Abrams’ “Super 8,” which pays homage to Spielberg flms from the Amblin time period.

And more important, Spielberg revealed details about an upcoming “Jaws” Blu-ray, which will have fans salivating.

“I’ve already seen some of it. I don’t have a date yet, but there’s a Blu-Ray absolutely in the works,” the director told one of his biggest supporters.

“(In the future) there’s going to be no more digital enhancements or digital additions to anything based on any film I direct. I’m not going to do any corrections digitally to even wires that show,” he continued. “If ‘1941’ comes on Blu-Ray I’m not going to go back and take the wires out because the Blu-Ray will bring the wires out, that are guiding the airplanes down Hollywood Blvd. At this point right now I think letting movies exist in the era, with all the flaws and with all of the flourishes, is a wonderful way to mark time and mark history.”

It’s a great read. And now we have a “Jaws” Blu-ray to look forward to, as well as Abrams’ “Super 8,” out this Friday.

Absolutely fantastic news. Haven’t got a blu-ray player yet, but jaws blu-ray will be my first title for sure. Lets just hope they give it the release it deserves as well as (hopefully) ‘The Shark Is Still Working’ included as a bonus extra. Fingers crossed! 🙂
