hollywoodnews.com: “Teen Mom” star Amber Portwood pleaded guilty to two counts of felony domestic battery on Thursday, when the case involving her ex-boyfriend and father of daughter Leah was heard in Indiana. The altercation between the couple was caught on camera while MTV was filming the series, leaving little question that Portwood did, in fact, assault ex Gary Shirley.

Judge David Happe let Portwood off easy, allowing her two years probation in place of the three year jail sentence and $10,000 fine the conviction could have held. Portwood’s plea deal also requested that the judge dismiss two other charges (which he did)—a felony count of neglect of a dependent and a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery. Portwood does not have current custody of her daughter.

The “Teen Mom” franchise has been wildly popular, a spinoff of the MTV hit “16 and Pregnant” which follows the lives of a particularly popular cast. Season 3 of “Teen Mom” will catch up with the moms as their babies approach two years old; it is slated to premiere on MTV on July 5th.
