Ryan Reynolds hints at plot of “Green Lantern” sequel

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: “Green Lantern” hasn’t even opened yet, and already the stars are looking ahead to possible directions of a sequel.

(Needless to say, there are mild spoilers discussed below, so if you’d like to head into Martin Campbell’s “Lantern” pure on Friday, June 17, you should click away now.)

Ryan Reynolds, who plays test pilot Hal Jordan in the origin story of the D.C. Comics superhero, revealed to MTV that plans for a sequel already are underway, and that screenwriters who have been hired have hinted to him where Jordan next will go.

“There’s such a rich history with this character, so you get really excited about the possibility,” Reynolds said. “The inevitable war between Hal and Sinestro is something that will have to be dealt with in the second movie for sure, but there’s always subplots and a lot of other interesting things going on that are setting up a possible third film.”

As for Reynolds’ co-star, Blake Lively, she discussed her hopes for a “Lantern” sequel by saying her character, Carol Ferris, needs to evolve into Star Sapphire, one of Jordan’s key enemies.

Will they happen? Only if enough people who up in support of the initial “Lantern” which opens everywhere this Friday.
