Julie Taymor embraced at “Spider-Man” Broadway bow

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Embattled Broadway musical “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark” finally opened Tuesday night to relatively positive reviews and at least one very surprising attendee in the audience: Shuttled “Spider-Man” director Julie Taymor.

The “Across the Universe” director walked the red carpet, watched the show alongside former President Bill Clinton and U2 rockers Bono and The Edge, and then received “wild applause from the audience and stage” during the curtain call, the NY Times reports.

Taymor, who was removed from the production after months of well-publicized technical glitches, finally spoke and thanked “this cast, this crew, these musicians, and this incredible creative team that I worked with for a long time.”
