Jason Reitman hired to polish Steve Carell comedy

Hollywoodnews.com: If you are going to hire a script doctor, why not go after someone who has received an Oscar nomination for screenwriting?
Makes sense to me, which is why “Up In the Air” writer-director Jason Reitman reportedly was tapped to polish “Burt Wonderstone,” a Steve Carell vehicle currently set up at New Line, THR reports. The trade says it’s “unclear” whether Reitman will be implementing “a polish, a full rewrite, or something in between” on the story of rival Las Vegas magicians fighting for tourist attention, but Reitman “is being paid for several weeks’ worth of work.”
Not too many weeks, however, as Reitman “is putting the finishing touches” on Paramount’s fall feature “Young Adult,” written by Diablo Cody, and also is prepping an adaptation of Joyce Maynard’s novel “Labor Day” with Kate Winslett and Josh Brolin in talks to star.
