Denis Leary developing “Sirens” for USA Network

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: It didn’t take Denis Leary long to find work now that “Recue Me” is drawing to a close.

The longtime stand up and Golden Globe nominee will return to comedy and stay on cable, adapting the British series “Sirens” for USA Network, THR reports. Instead of firefighters, Leary will produce and co-write the show about the “humorous antics and dramatic conflicts of a team of paramedics.”

But will be star?

“This is not a vehicle for Denis, and smartly I think,” said Bill McGoldrick, USA’s Senior VP Original Scripted Programming. “I don’t think you necessarily want to see him as the lead of a show so soon after Rescue Me, but … after we get the script where we want it there may be more of a supporting thing.”
