“Captain America” trailer, poster storm the Web

By Sean O’Connell Summer 2011 has flirted with superhero fatigue, as “Thor” gave way to “X-Men: First Class,” followed by “Green Lantern.” But the next — and I believe last — comic book adventure looks like it might have the right mixture of action, explosions, character and humor.

We’re talking about Joe Johnston’s “Captain America: The First Avenger,” the final Marvel introduction that sets the stage for next summer’s Avengers film. Starring Chris Evans as super soldier Steve Rogers, “Captain” tracks the patriot’s rise from runt to war hero, thanks to an injection of government-produced serum.

The second and final trailer for “Cap” kills, promising the old-school thrills we saw in films like Spielberg’s Indiana Jones series (which Johnston has said was a blueprint for his picture).

Check it out below:

Paramount also released a new poster for the 3D adventure, which reaches theaters on July 22. It isn’t as cool as the hand-drawn poster that showed Cap punching Hitler in the face (Google search it), but it sets the period tone of what looks to be a rousing superhero thriller.
