Steven Spielberg’s “War Horse” gets trailer, photo

By Sean O’Connell Now that “War Horse’ took home top honors are the 2011 Tony Awards, our eyes turn to Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of Nick Stafford’s stage play, which isn’t due in theaters until Dec. 28.

DreamWorks Pictures recently released a photo of the director on set with his lead, Jeremy Irvine, as well as a teaser trailer. We’ve posted that below.

Spielberg’s film will tell “a tale of loyalty, hope and tenacity set against a sweeping canvas of rural England and Europe during the First World War” that follows the “remarkable friendship between a horse named Joey and a young man called Albert, who tames and trains him.”

We’re curious if “War Horse” has Oscar potential, since it performed so well at the Tony Awards. This one’s on our radar. What do you think?
