Gary Oldman, Colin Firth in first “Tinker, Tailor” tease

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: For so many reasons, the upcoming adaptation of John Le Carre’s “Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy” has been near the top of our “Must See” list, and this new trailer released today isn’t doing much to slide it off the chart.

First, it’s Le Carre, who is a brilliant espionage novelist. Second, it’s directed by “Let the Right One In” helmer Tomas Alfredson. And third, get a load of this cast: Colin Firth, Gary Oldman, John Hurt, Stephen Graham, Tom Hardy, Mark Strong, Toby Jones, Ciaran Hinds … they could be reading the phone book and we’d all sit, riveted.

Thankfullly, they’ll be doing much more than that in this Cold War-era thriller about a spy (Oldman) coaxed out of retirement to uncover a mole buried deep in his organization. The period details of the trailer are exquisite. The performances should be top notch. Even the score’s fantastic, setting an ominous, uncomfortable mood.

Check it out for yourself:

Alfredson’s “Tinker” opens on Nov. 18, but if we’re lucky, we’ll be covering it on the fall film festival circuit as we weigh the film’s Oscar potential.
