hollywoodnews.com: Coheed and Cambria (one of Soundgarden’s opening acts for its current tour) was short one member for tonight’s Comcast Center show in Mansfield, Massachusetts. Bassist Michael Todd was arrested by authorities just minutes before the band’s set, for a robbery allegedly committed by Todd earlier that day at an area Walgreen’s.
The precise charges were armed robbery and unlawful possession of narcotics, following the theft of six bottles of painkillers from a pharmacy in Attleboro, MA. Todd allegedly showed a pharmacist a note on his cell phone that threatened the detonation of a bomb if he was not given the requested pills. A known substance abuser, Todd took a break from the band in 2006 for a visit to rehab.
Said Coheed and Cambria on their official Tumblr page, “Michael Todd was arrested today on what we consider very serious charges and therefore he will not be finishing up the current tour. Wes Styles, long time member of the Coheed family will take on bass duties starting tomorrow for the remaining dates. No shows will be canceled.”
The official statement went on to allude to other dates they’re playing on the Soundgarden tour: “For now, we just want to have a great time out here and finish with some killer shows in Boston, Poughkeepsie, Quebec City and Halifax. “
