“Harry Potter” setting theater records in Australia

By Sean O’Connell The land Down Under is ready to rise up for the final “Harry Potter” film.

The eighth and final film, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2,” will open on a record-setting 748 screens in Australia. While that doesn’t sound like much, that number makes it the widest opening in the continent’s history, THR reports.

The trade adds that “Potter,” which screens during Australia’s “lucrative school holiday season” should surpass the box office records currently held by “The Twilight Saga: New Moon,” which opened to $16.1 million on November 19, 2009.
