Ed Norton eyeing villain role in “Bourne” reboot

By Sean O’Connell If Universal Studios gets its way, the new Jason Bourne will face off against the incredible Hulk in their franchise reboot.

Not literally – though that would be a pretty badass mash up. Instead, Jeremy Renner (who is replacing Matt Damon in the Tony Gilroy-directed “The Bourne Legacy”) may be matching wits with Edward Norton, who is in discussion to play the chief villain, Variety reports.

Now that’s a face-off I’d be itching to see. However, now that we’ve seen the full trailer for the next “Mission: Impossible” film with Renner running alongside Tom Cruise, how will this latest “Bourne” distance itself from that franchise? Is Renner the right choice? Or does this create conflict?

The Variety piece also makes it sound like Rachel Weisz is locked in to play the leading lady in the “Bourne” film, though we’ll have more on that if and when it gets confirmed.
