“Cowboys and Aliens” overloads fans with interactive trailer

Hollywoodnews.com: Though it’s only the middle of July, it’s starting to feel like Summer 2011 is drawing to a close. We’ve worked our way through massive sequels, animated franchises and surprising hits. Now that “Harry Potter” has dropped, and with “Captain America” about to blast into theaters, you might think it’s time to rest and get ready for the autumn awards season.

But Jon Favreau wants you to remember that Universal still has “Cowboys & Aliens” on the docket, and a brand-new interactive trailer offering stats, images and video IN ADDITION to the trailer, hopes to entice movie fans who might be weary on tentpoles at this stage of the game.

Check out the interactive trailer HERE.

The trailer has been around for awhile, but the navigation tricks and trivia is new. It’s not a seamless tool, but it is a fun game for fans who really are looking forward to the movie, which casts Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford as wild west cowboys confronting extraterrestrials.

The clip also offers interviews with the cast, behind-the-scenes footage with Favreau, and much more.

“Cowboys & Aliens” will be in theaters on July 29. And maybe then we can slow things down a little bit before we dive into Telluride, Toronto, Venice and the Oscar race. Right?
