Star Wars Blu-ray early access App now available

By G. Clay Whittaker
Hollywoodnews.com: “Star Wars: The Complete Saga” will be available on Blu-ray in stores Sept. 16, right in time for some back-to-school marathons and end-of-summer drinking games. But if you can’t even wait that long, this treat for iDevice owners will make for hours of entertainment.

As part of the massive rollout for the “Star Wars” Blu-ray release, fans with iPhones and iPads can download a free app filled with tons of content to whet their appetites.

It’s great stuff for fans that want to go behind the scenes. Blu-ray isn’t really about the films; the die-hard fans are still wearing out that old VHS, and if they’ve upgraded to DVD they treat the disc with an archivists care. Blu-ray is about delivery potential for everything that makes for a richer experience: artwork, prop and costume scans, interviews and a lot of other gems worth investigating.

And the App is an accessible, touch-screen preview of all of that new material. Early screenshots look stellar, and the App is already available for iPad users (sorry iPhone, you have to wait until August 2). It’s a wonderful product for old fans and young ones alike, because a lot of this stuff just isn’t available anywhere.

Download on the iPad today, the iPhone in just a couple of weeks, and if you happen to be going to Comic-Con, they’ll have a display up at booth #3528 with iPads and the Blu-rays for a sample of what’s to come in September.
