Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron spar at Comic-Con

By Kim Palacios

hollywoodnews.com: Many fans left yesterday’s “Snow White and the Huntsman” preview at Comic-Con with the same question: were Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron for real? In the upcoming film, Oscar-winner Theron will play The Evil Queen to Kristen Stewart’s Snow White. Was the tension between the veteran and the relative ingénue genuine, or was the palpable acrimony between the two all part of the act?

Body language was the first clue that something might be amiss. Theron was seated between Stewart and co-star Chris Hemsworth (The Huntsman), yet her chair was farther away from Stewart’s and she tended towards leaning away from the young star. Other strangeness ensued: “We’ve only met each other very briefly, but just in that small amount of time I can tell you that she’s going to give me a run for my money,” Theron complimented Stewart at one point. But she followed up with the caution, “I’m ready for you bitch, let’s go!” The comment was ostensibly made in jest, but some who attended questioned Theron’s tone.

Yet, perhaps it wasn’t discord that seemed to set Theron and Stewart apart, but rather a simple lack of rapport. Stewart is usually seen next to “Twilight” co-stars with whom she has years of relationship history. Not only does she lack history with Theron—several differences between the two actresses are easily noted. Whereas Theron is poised and professional, articulate and calm, is confident and holds her head high, by contrast, Stewart comes off as fidgety, unpolished, and young.
