Jennifer Lopez close to signing new “American Idol” deal

Hollywoodnews.com: Jennifer Lopez might have received job security for her 42nd birthday.
As the singer-actress celebrated her birthday in Miami, reports circulated that J-Lo was close to signing a deal that would return her to the judge’s table for another season of “American Idol.” The Wall Street Journal report that Lopez and FOX “are close to brokering a deal to bring the singer and actress back” even though her contract expired after her first season and had said she was “uncertain” about returning.
Though Cécile Frot-Coutaz, chief executive officer at FremantleMedia North America, refused to comment specifically on a Lopez deal, she did say to WSJ, “We’re in good shape. No worries. No dark clouds on the horizon.”
Reps for Lopez and Fox played the no comment card, though it’s looking more and more likely that Lopez will rejoin Steve Tyler and Randy Jackson as judges on “Idol” when the reality singing competition resumes for another season.
