Liam Neeson, Brooklyn Decker in early “Battleship” tease

By Sean O’Connell How can you tell a studio has confidence in the direction of your (reportedly expensive) blockbuster? They screen a teaser nearly a year before your film is ready to open.

Peter Berg’s “Battleship,” which is based on the popular board game, won’t be in theaters until May 2012. But a trailer has been attached to “Cowboys and Aliens” this weekend, and the same clip just made its way online.

We get to see Naval recruit Taylor Kitsch romancing a nearly naked Brooklyn Decker, then be on the receiving end of a Liam Neeson verbal beat down. Then, things … change.

See for yourself HERE.

Makes it seem like Berg is angling for some of Michael Bay’s “Transformers” audience, no?

This is a small sample of what’s sure to be a big movie. I still say showing it this early means Universal likes what they are seeing out of Berg and “Battleship.” We’ll know a lot more as we get closer.
