Lucy Liu joining the cast of TNT’s “Southland”

By Adam Frazier
Hollywoodnews.com: Emmy-nominated actress Lucy Liu, star of “Charlie’s Angels” and “Kill Bill: Volume 1,” has been cast as a special guest-star on the upcoming fourth season of TNT’s police drama “Southland.”

The series — starring Michael Cudlitz, Shawn Hatosy, Regina King and Ben McKenzie — is slated to premiere its new season in January 2012 on TNT. While the specifics of her character haven’t been announced, Liu will appear throughout the season as a member of the LAPD.

Even more interesting is Lucy Liu’s upcoming film projects, including “The Man with the Iron Fists,” directed by Wu Tang Clan’s RZA, who co-wrote the script with Eli Roth (“Hostel”).

The film, about a blacksmith in feudal China who makes weapons and must defend his village from attackers, also stars Russell Crowe and Jamie Chung. “The Man with the Iron Fists” is scheduled for a 2011 release, but no specific date has been announced.
