Tom Cruise’s “One Shot” could film in Pittsburgh after “Dark Knight”

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Since when did Pittsburgh become Hollywood of the Midwest?

Set reports from Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises,” currently filming in Steel City, hit the web on a daily basis. Viola Davis (“The Help,” “Doubt”) and Maggie Gyllenhaal recently wrapped filming of the educational drama “Steel Town” on Pittsburgh’s streets. And now Tom Cruise might bring his next big-budget production to Pennsylvania.

The Post-Gazette says producers of “One Shot,” an adaptation of the 2005 Lee Child thriller that would cast Cruise as ex-military investigator Jack Reacher, “appear poised to shoot the action thriller in Pittsburgh this fall, after ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ packs up its capes, cowls and cat-suits and moves to its next location.”

“The novel largely is set in the state of Indiana in a small, quiet city … with a river. It’s unknown if Pittsburgh would cheat for some other place or play itself,” the article notes.

Paramount plans to open “One Shot” in theaters in 2013. Cruise, meanwhile, will appear in the studio’s “Mission: Impossible” sequel, directed by Brad Bird, out later this year.
