Jani Lane, former “Warrant” lead singer, dead at 47

By Kim Palacios Former Warrant lead singer, Jani Lane, was found dead today in Woodland Hills, CA, in a room at a Comfort Inn motel. Though no cause of death has been named, Lane’s recent criminal record (which involved two 2010 DUIs) and a history of substance abuse problems, has some speculating that the singer’s death was alcohol or drug-related.

The 47-year old singer once helmed the hair band, which saw its heyday in the late 80’s and early 90’s with hits such as “Cherry Pie” and ballads “Heaven” and (the less successful) “I Saw Red” off of albums “Cherry Pie” and “Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich.” Lane left (and returned to) the band several times since Warrant’s initial fame, with his longest absence from 2004 to 2008.
