Twilight’s Kellan Lutz launches clothing line

By Kim Palacios

hollywoodnews.com: It’s been a busy year for Kellan Lutz—the actor not only shot both installments of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn”; he also acted in several smaller films and two large action/thrillers slated for release this fall: “Arena” and “Immortals.” Yet the latest of Lutz’s projects is the launch of his clothing line, Abbot + Main.

“I used to live on the corner of Abbot Kinney and Main,” Lutz said. “And I just love the feeling in Venice. That’s what I was trying to capture with Abbot + Main.”

The 26-year-old actor said that he lent more than just creative direction to the project, stepping up to participate in all aspects of designing the line. “I am a part of every decision,” he said. “Nothing gets decided on unless it comes through me…We raided my closet to find out what type of shirts I usually wear and what kind of fabrics I like. Because I didn’t just want to be the face of the campaign, but have it be my brand.”

Yet Lutz did not launch the line without considerable help. Dylan George designer Danny Guez did the hands-on design of the initial 25 ready-to-wear men’s pieces (a women’s line is expected for 2012).

Lutz was on hand at Nordstrom in The Grove shopping center in Los Angeles to launch the collection; and, an August 23rd party will be held at the Paris Las Vegas’ Chateau Nightclub.
