“Tinker, Tailor” teaser posters – AWARDS ALLEY

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Stop selling me. I’m sold. Bring on the movie. I’m ready.

Seriously, the marketing materials for Tomas Alfredson’s “Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy” have been among some of the year’s best, from a taut and unnerving trailer (see below) to these new posters teasing Alfredson’s amazing cast.

Even if I hadn’t seen Alfredson’s outstanding vampire thriller “Let the Right One In,” the hook of these teases would be more than enough to have me standing in line to see this John le Carre adaptation.

But knowing how gifted Alfredson can be behind the lens has me positively salivating. Almost every line of the trailer drips of discomfort and suspicion. The cast is wall-to-wall character actors, and you know Le Carre has penned them formidable parts. This one is high on the list of “must sees” as the awards season approaches.

Now, I refine my patience. “Tinker” will not be in Toronto (at this moment), though it is playing Venice and New York. Maybe I need to get to NYFF. Cover this and Roman Polanski’s “Carnage.” As I contemplate travel, I’m also going to order one or two of these posters, which remind me of ‘70s paranoia classics like “The Conversation” and “All the President’s Men,” in the best way possible.
