Foo Fighters tweet sympathy after Belgium concert tragedy

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Another weather-related tragedy at a live music event has claimed the lives of at least five concert attendees.

The annual Pukkelpop festival — which takes place near Hasselt, 50 miles east of Brussels, Belgium – has been canceled after a massive thunderstorm destroyed tents and stages, injuring at least 40 and killing five, as was reported Friday morning. The band Smith Westerns was on stage as the storm descended on the open-air festival when the structure collapsed around them, MSNBC reports. The band members were OK, but their equipment was ruined.

Foo Fighters, Eminem and The Offspring are among the bands who took to Twitter after the cancellation to express condolences to fans and mourn the loss of the deceased.

“Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the tragic events at Pukkelpop. For information +32 (0) 11 23 97 11” the Foos tweeted.

The Belgium incident occurs days after the stage collapsed on fans attending a Sugarland concert in Indianapolis.
