Laurence Fishburne heading Zurich Film Fest jury – AWARDS ALLEY

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Laurence Fishburne, star of “The Matrix” and a recent addition to Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot “Man of Steel,” has been announced as the international jury president for the 2011 Zurich Film Festival. This year’s even kicks off on Sept. 22 with a screening of Fishburne’s “Contagion,” Steven Soderbergh’s virus-spreading thriller which also stars Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow, to name but a few.

THR reports that Fishburne will be joined on the Zurich international jury by former Paramount Film Group president John Lesher; actress Alice Eve (“The Raven,” “Men in Black III”); Denmark actor Paprika Steen (“The Celebration”); European Film Market head Beki Probst; and Oscar-nominated Serbian director Stevan Arsenijevic (“Love and Other Crimes”).

Charles Ferguson (“Inside Job”) will head up the international documentary jury in Zurich this year.

In addition, Sean Penn will be at this year’s fest to receive Zurich’s Golden Icon Award.

The fest announces that the full Zurich schedule will be revealed shortly. The program runs from Sept. 22 to Oct. 2.
