“Transformers” star Josh Duhamel returns home to raise money for flood victims

hollywoodnews.com: “Transformers” star Josh Duhamel won’t spend Labor Day weekend relaxing on the beach—instead, he’ll return to his home town of Minot, North Dakota to raise money for flood victims. More than 4,000 homes were damaged in June when the Souris River flooded, including Duhamel’s childhood home and his sister’s house.
At the time of the floods, nearly 11,000 residents were forced to evacuate. Some buildings remained submerged in water for nearly one month, including community structures such as businesses and schools. One of Duhamel’s first orders of business will be a visit with temporary residents of a Red Cross shelter. Duhamel’s wife Fergie, of the Black Eyed Peas, will perform a benefit concert with her band mates on Sunday. Proceeds from the concert will help residents to rebuild their homes.
“I have pride in where I’m from and just want to help the best way I could,” daid Duhamel to the Associated Press. “People [from here] are as strong as they come. I’m not really worried about the will or spirit of the people.”
