Eddie Murphy gets Oscar-hosting advice from Steve Martin – AWARDS ALLEY

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Jon Stewart was the first former Oscar host to publicly address Eddie Murphy’s hiring for the next Academy Awards. Now Murphy’s “Bowfinger” co-star, Steve Martin – also familiar with Oscar’s unique ways – pens an open letter filled with “advice.”

It’s definitely worth a read, and can be found on Martin’s official site.

Read in Martin’s signature dry tone, and with tongue planted firmly in cheek, the letter advises Murphy to avoid co-hosts (Martin did not, teaming with Alec Baldwin for the evening two years back). He suggests Murphy shed a few pounds because he looked “kinda paunchy” in “Norbit.”

Ultimately, he reminds Murphy to “relax and have a good time while 12,000 livebloggers rip you to shreds.”

Now Steve. Be honest. We all know it’s way more than 12,000! Twitter alone will account for millions of armchair quarterbacks!

I’m kidding. I think Murphy’s going to be great. And so does Martin, if you read between the lines of this humorous letter.
