Michelle Williams named Best Actress by Hollywood Film Awards – AWARDS ALLEY

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: She is a two-time Academy Award nominee. She’s hoping to get into this year’s awards race for her performance in the anticipated “My Week with Marilyn.” This morning, Michelle Williams received a significant boost in her Oscar campaign with recognition from the Hollywood Film Awards.

Williams will receive the Best Actress honor at the 15th annual Hollywood Film Awards, it was announced this morning. Williams plays silver screen icon Marilyn Monroe in Simon Curtis’ drama, which is about to have its world premiere at the New York Film Festival.

Williams will accept the award at the Hollywood Film Awards ceremony, scheduled for Oct. 24 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.

“It is a privilege to honor Michelle for her excellent talent and remarkable career,” said Carlos de Abreu, the founder and executive director of the event and the publisher of HollywoodNews.com.

Williams joins fellow recipients Christopher Plummer (“Beginners”) for Hollywood Supporting Actor; Joseph Gordon-Levitt for Hollywood Breakthrough Actor; and Felicity Jones (“Like Crazy”) for the New Hollywood Award.
