Jim Carrey opposite Steve Carell in magician comedy?

By Sean O’Connell He was a surprise guest star on Steve Carell’s final episode of “The Office,” but they never shared the screen in a scene. That’s about to change.

Jim Carrey is negotiating to co-star alongside Carell in the New Line comedy “Burt Wonderstone,” Deadline reports. The story revolves around dueling Las Vegas magicians who are vying for tourists’ attentions in Sin City. Longtime television director Don Scardino (“30 Rock,” “Cosby”) helm’s the high-concept film, which should give Carell and Carrey plenty of room to improvise.

Last we checked, “Wonderstone” had a 2013 release date in store. But now that Carell’s found his comedic foil in Carrey, I can’t see New Line waiting too long to get this production rolling so audience members can see how the pairing plays on screen.

We’ll keep you posted on “Burt Wonderstone” developments as they happen, but the already intriguing project just turned more interesting.

This is a little late, but Steve Carell and Jim Carrey both were in Bruce Almighty together.
