George Clooney in London supporting “Ides,” “Descendants” – AWARDS ALLEY

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Despite claims to the contrary (that were made by confused festival organizers), George Clooney intends to be very visible during the BFI London Film Festival in support of his two Oscar-worthy films, “The Ides of March” and “The Descendants.”

A release suggested otherwise, saying Clooney’s commitments could have kept him from walking the red carpet of each film’s high-profile premiere.

But festival reps countered with a statement, picked up by THR, that says Clooney “is absolutely confirmed to attend both screenings,” giving fans (and eager press) something to look forward to in the coming days.

London is the latest stop for Clooney’s films, one of which he directs and stars (“Ides”) and the other in which he merely stars (“The Descendants”). Both are outstanding, with Clooney delivering some of the finest work of his career both in front of and behind the camera. In fact, the Oscar winner is being recognized for his “Descendants” performance at the 15th annual Hollywood Film Awards a week from Monday, Oct. 24.

Before that, Clooney will walk the red carpet and attend the premieres in London, part of the whirlwind tour Clooney has been on since releasing the films … and one that likely should continue as the Oscar marathon drags on.
