Larry Hagman announces cancer diagnosis days before “Dallas” begins production

By Kim Palacios “As J.R. I could get away with anything — bribery, blackmail and adultery,” said Larry Hagman in a Friday statement. “But I got caught by cancer.” Though he did not go into specifics, he did make it clear that it’s a very “common, treatable” form.

This comes at a bad time for Hagman, who is scheduled to begin production of a revived version of the thirty-some year old hit, “Dallas” in which he will reprise his role as J.R. Ewing.

Yet, Hagman seemed optimistic, concluding his statement with this: “As we all know, you can’t keep J.R. down!”
