Elton John praises NY Governor for gay marriage law
HollywoodNews.com: Singer/activist Elton John singled out New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo during his foundation’s annual benefit this week as an example for others to follow.
According to the Associated Press, Elton thanked Cuomo – who was seated in the audience – for “taking a stand in New York and making the dream of marriage equality a reality in the state.”
In July, New York became the sixth U.S. state to recognize same-sex nuptials and Cuomo was seen as instrumental in its passage.
Wednesday night was the 10th annual Enduring Vision gala for the Elton John AIDS Foundation and it raised $2 million.
Alec Baldwin, Jon Bon Jovi and Sarah Ferguson were among the celebrities in attendance.
