“The Hunger Games” full trailer from ABC’s “Good Morning America”

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Be patient with “Hunger Games” fans today, people. They woke up early to catch the first full trailer on “Good Morning America.” What’s that? You forgot to set your alarm? Don’t worry. We’ve got you covered with the full trailer, posted below.

“Games” co-star Josh Hutcherson introduced the clip, which also can be seen in HD on the iTunes Movie Trailers at www.itunes.com/trailers. The studio reveals that this clip “attempt(s) to preserve the anticipation and mystery that fans are relishing … by only show(ing) footage from the first half of the film, chronicling events leading up to but not including the Games themselves.” And when you watch the teaser, you’ll see it ends with a tantalizing cliffhanger that nicely sets the stage.

Gary Ross directs this anticipated adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ best-selling novel, which stars Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss, a resilient teen chosen to partake in the Hunger Games, a “twisted punishment for a past uprising and an ongoing government intimidation tactic,” as well as a “nationally televised event in which ‘Tributes’ must fight with one another until one survivor remains.”

Here’s a fuller synopsis from the studio:
Pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have prepared for these Games their entire lives, Katniss is forced to rely upon her sharp instincts as well as the mentorship of drunken former victor Haymitch Abernathy. If she’s ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

“The Hunger Games” will be released by Lionsgate on March 23, 2012. Here’s the trailer. What do you think?
