Hollywoodnews.com: Paramount Pictures announced that Brad Bird’s “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol,” the fourth installment in the action-packed spy franchise, will open this year’s Dubai International Film Festival on Dec. 7.
Well, yeah. Of course. That makes sense. So far, the sequel’s signature “move” has been showing audiences “Ghost Protocol” star Tom Cruise dangling from the side of Dubai’s Burj Khalifa building, the world’s tallest skyscraper. Cruise probably will sky dive from the tower’s apex and land on the red carpet. That’s how he rolls.
“Ghost Protocol” also will open in theaters on IMAX days later (Dec. 16), who this is an excellent platform release for what’s looking like a thrilling adventure.
The fourth installment co-stars Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Paula Patton, Michael Nyqvist, Vladimir Mashkov, Josh Holloway, Anil Kapoor and Léa Seydoux. Bird, making his feature film directorial debut after helming animated hits “The Incredibles” and “The Iron Giant,” in and around Dubai for his sequel, photographing old town, downtown financial hub and offshore in the Palm island development.
The 8th Dubai International Film Festival runs through Dec. 14, and also includes a screening of Alexander Payne’s “The Descendants.”
