“War Horse” opens (Christmas) doors to Academy members – AWARDS ALLEY

By Sean O’Connell
hollywoodnews.com: Academy members who tear through their presents early can head off to participating theaters on Christmas afternoon for a free screening or Steven Spielberg’s “War Horse,” which opens to the general public on Dec. 25.

In an effort to ensure that all Academy members witness Spielberg’s effort on the big screen, Disney/DreamWorks has revealed that it will offer free screenings to AMPAS and guild members who show their membership cards.

“The studio believes this film is truly meant to be seen on the big screen,” the studio said in a release.

Note, however, that different theater chains are each handling the request slightly differently. Some say guild members can come on any day of the week, though others are restricting their offer to weekdays (but not weekends or holidays).

Below is the complete list of free screening opportunities offered by different theater chains:
AMC will admit: AMPAS, ACE, ADG, ASC, BAFTA, CAS, DGA, HFPA, MPEG, MPSE, PGA, WGA and SAG Nominating (Valid 7 days a week).
