FOX cancels “So You Think You Can Dance?” results show

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Changes are afoot for FOX’s reality competition “So You Think You Can Dance,” with network-mandated corrections triggering a format shift for the popular program.

Executive producer and “Dance” judge Nigel Lythgoe tweeted Sunday evening that FOX pulled the plug on the results show, as ratings steadily slipped on the program.

“#FOX have cancelled the results show so I will have to change the format of #SYTYCD. At least we have another season at the end of MAY,” he said.

So, that’s good news tempered with semi-disappointing news. Fans of the show may be getting less “Dance” in 2012 … but that has to be better than getting no “Dance” at all.

“Don’t worry #SYTYCD fans. I’m thrilled we have a new series. We’ll do our best to find some great talent starting next week in Atlanta,” Lythgoe tweeted later.

Season nine of the program cranks back up in the summer.
