Taylor Swift offered role in Tom Hooper’s “Les Miserables”

By Sean O’Connell Taylor Swift has flirted with a movie career, appearing alongside Taylor Lautner in Garry Marshall’s “Valentine’s Day,” and she’s lending her voice to the animated “Lorax” film, out later this year. But if a rumor circulating around the Web becomes reality, Swift could become as big of a movie star as she is a pop star.

Twitch is reporting that Swift has received an offer to play Eponine in Tom Hooper’s developing production of the musical “Les Miserables.”

“Should she accept she will be joining Hugh Jackman, Helena Bonham Carter, Russell Crowe, Sacha Baron Cohen and Anne Hathaway with Amanda Seyfried also offered a major part,” the site reports.

Hooper has been auditioning a number of talents to play Eponine, and considered “Glee” star Lea Michele, Scarlett Johansson, Evan Rachel Wood and singer Swift. Now, it’s unclear if Swift is even interested in committing to a role of this magnitude. But we know she can sing. And if “Les Lis” gets into next year’s Oscar race, Swift could find herself swept up into the momentum. That would be exciting.
