Jennifer Lawrence: ‘Hunger Games’ is like Kim Kardashian’s divorce

HollywoodNews.com: Jennifer Lawrence is about to be seen in the highly-anticipated ‘Hunger Games,’ but first she is explaining why the film and books have appeal when the main subject is kids battling for their lives as they slaughter each other in “the Arena.”

Lawrence tried to explain the situation and appeal by referencing pop culture, states UsMagazine.com. “I was watching the Kardashian girl getting divorced, and that’s a tragedy for anyone. But they’re using it for entertainment, and we’re watching it,” Lawrence said of Kim Kardashian’s split from Kris Humphries.

However, she hopes that things don’t progress any further: “The books hold up a terrible kind of mirror: This is what our society could be like if we became desensitized to trauma and to each other’s pain.”
